Music Monday: UK Top 40

Ooo...a theme. Never let it be said that I let Music Mondays get boring through lack of variation.

I thought about doing Top 40, but then in looking at the actual Top 40, I either didn't recognise the songs, or I don't like them. Because MM, and everything, is about me, I couldn't feature songs that I don't like! So, I've chosen some songs from the Top 40, and some others from artists in the Top 40, but songs I like from said artists which aren't necessarily in the Top 40 currently. Post script: it looks like there is only one actual Top 40 song that I like. You didn't really expect me to pick that godawful new Mariah Carey song, did you?

Estelle feat. Kanye West: American Boy (Top 40)

Scouting for Girls: She's So Lovely

Duffy: Rockferry

Adele: Hometown Glory

Kooks: Ooh La

Robyn: With Every Heartbeat

Sugababes: About You Now

Amy Winehouse: You Know I'm No Good

Futureheads: Hounds of Love

I feel like I'm kind of calling it in this week, but they are all songs on my iPod, embarrassing as that may be in some cases. I hope someone at least likes one of these songs. Also, no slagging off the Sugababes. They're good. We all have our weaknesses musically.

I'm digging on some Amy Winehouse. For serious.

And, I'm hoping, btw, that you might feature a band that is near and dear to my heart: Faith No More.

Even when you think your taste may be potentially embarrassing, it's still way too hip for me to get. I'm still playing Paul Simon (with the kids) and Fiona Apple (when alone) in my car.

But, did want to say happy mother's day, even if the date is different there.

I love Avril Lavine's "Girlfriend" so I can't pass musical judgement on ANYONE.

But I want to hit the frontman of Scouting For Girls with a big stick, just so that you know.

I have a serious physical reaction whenever I see Amy Winehouse. I throw up in my mouth a little bit. She can sing. Dude, she can sing but. Yeah. I just don't want to have to look at her. I can almost smell the stale smoke and booze oozing from her pores.

This list is very much like the list in our house (although I cant stand Robyn). I like the Sugababes too - just please not live.

Since you had Duffy, I can overlook that you had Kanye on there.

For now.

Ohh, I like all of these! (/shame) hadn't heard the new Kanye (I listen to some "adult progressive bullshit which is pretty good, but tends to avoid top 40 like the plague). Is it ok given the comeback to admit that I've been on the Robyn train for about a decade now? No? Still too embarrassing to admit stuff from her FIRST album is on my iDevice?
