Bon Voyage

Four months of silence, yet I consistently don't know what to say when faced with a blank Blogger screen. The gist is this:

-I got a job in the US.
-I, and by which I mean only me, leave England after 8+ years on Wednesday. One day from now.
-I am terrified.
-I will be away from The Dude and P for two or three weeks, perhaps more.
-I have had one month to prepare for this and I have failed. Majorly.
-For the next few days I will mostly be crying and trying not to throw up repeatedly. This applies to repeatedly trying not to throw up, as well as possibly trying not to throw up repeatedly.
-This is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

I'm not sure what the next month will bring. I will try my best not to beseige this place with my misery whilst I'm trying to sort out my new life over there alone.

Shit. Fuck. Bollocks. Wank.

You are going to be fine. FINE! Especially if you come play with me on the 24th. :-) The separation is temporary and it's all in the name of A Greater Good, right? Plus, think about the benefits of a closer proximity to the Brain Trust! Breathe!

Yes, it will all work out. The separation will be hard but the reunion and new adventure will make it all worthwhile.

Where in the US will you be? Near family? Do please let us know how it all goes and if you ever end up in the South be sure to drop by The House of Dirt and Rocks.

When we moved to the US my mom, sis and I left 6 weeks before my dad. It was hard, but we made it out the other side. You will too!!

OMFG! You're not going to be in New England, are you?

Also, breathe. You're going to be fine. And so will they.

Wait! What? Job? But only you? Only three weeks? More? Jesus, I might just throw up. Can I know roughly where?

Pru - Good luck with the move. Keep us updated when you can. I'll be thinking of you. The time will go by fast and the family will be with you before you know it.

Wow! I expect it will be tough on your own at first but I'm sure the upheaval will be worth it when the others get there. Congratulations on the new job!

It will suck, but you will make it. I cannot promise that there won't be some puke, but I think it'll be worth it. Besides the Dude has papers, so he'll be along soon, right?

Whoa. That's huge. Where is the job? Central PA?

Yeah! A job! Congratulations!!!

3-weeks plus without your family, a steep price to pay. But you can count down the days and then come back, right?

Why wouldn't you pour your misery exactly here?

You can of course come down to visit me and my kids! Sounds terrifying, but you absolutely can do it and it won't mean a thing in a few years.

What a huge step. The water will feel really cold, just take a deep breath and jump. After a while it will feel just like home. And your baby will miss you, but she will be ok.

It is a huge huge huge step, but congratulations on getting the job. May the time apart pass quickly -- at least emotionally since 60 seconds still make up a minute ...

Frightening but survivable...my husband has been doing that for 3 years now. It's not ideal, but it will work out.

I hope it's no more than 3 weeks.

This sounds tough, but doable. But yeah, I can totally understand the nerves and vomiting.

If you're in New England, let me know. I'll bring you tea and sympathy.

Yo, chicklet! Good on you for getting the job - and I hope things are working out okay.

I'm sure this transition is going to be hard, with lots of fits and starts, but I have a feeling it's also going to be amazing. (Good, awesome amazing vs. scary, vomit-inducing amazing.)

Thinking of you!

So you must be stateside by now. How about kiddo and hubby? Hope you are all settling in.
